self-studying for driving license

Post by travelfish » Mon Jul 14, 2008 3:52 pm

Hi,

My wife is learning driving at a school. Is it legal if she continue practising in the evening using our own car at some idle parking place? Of course I am sitting inside the car just beside her when she is practising. And I have a Finnish driving license.

Thank you!

if it is land closed from the public, which a parking lot is not. if some police gets interested in a wobbly car thats a fine for you for handing over a car and your wife can take the bus for a year before getting her licence - legally it can be done with shelling out money you get a teaching license and install the pedals and the mirrors and inspect the car as a trainer

If she is signed up to a driving school then she can get plenty of practice with them otherwise I don't think she is entitled to drive a car even in a car park but of course what the man don't know wont hurt him!

Is it legal...no I would say.
Is it possible...yes just don't get caught!

Thank you! I heard this is allowed at Sweden if the "teacher" (family member) has a driving license long enough (maybe five years), but I am not sure here. Therefore, I came to ask....

do dii, this reads at http://www.poliisi.fi when you go to drivers licenses and driving instruction license. requires to pass a normal test and a special part of instruction. my local mate says it used to be easier but now its a bit hard - usually people do it if they have kids getting to the age, but unless you want a divorce then someone else better instruct the missus

mate also pointed out the locals have a field day with this clause:
Justification for granting a driving instruction licence
the learner is disabled and the vehicle has been fitted with special controls or it has automatic transmission
