Recently, it came to my attention I am eligible to become a dual Finnish-American citizen. My mom was born in Finland and my sister already applied and received her dual citizenship. I called the consulate and was informed I missed the deadline my a month and a half.
I completely understand due dates and deadlines and the law is the law, but I am wondering if there is anything I can do? Since my sister already has hers and all of the paperwork in on file, would this count for anything?
ANy help would be appreciated. thanks

Re: Dual Citizenship Deadline
From everything I've read, the deadline of May 31, 2008 was firm-- although they did extend to June 2 due to May 31 falling on a Saturday. As one had to submit the application to the Finnish Embassy or Consulate and they are telling you they won't accept, I don't see any other options.
