Where to get a GOOD haircut in Helsinki?

Post by Enkka » Mon Jul 21, 2008 4:53 pm

Moi,

Am I the only one who is disappointed everytime I visit a hair saloon?
I have been almost 7 years in Finland and I haven't found a place that has satisfied me completely and that I would be happy to visit again.

Most of the stylist cut in a hurry and quite bad.
Could anybody recommend a good place for a good price?

Thanks

Good luck with that...it's very difficult to find a decent haircut in this town, even with the incredible amount of "parturit" out there.I have two or three addresses somewhere,I'll try to post them later.

I've been having the same trouble but recently found a great guy at Kamppi - he is at the Salon Choice salon, right near where you get off the bus and go through the doors into the Kamppi complex. I don't recall his name, but i think he rents a chair at that salon. He is on holidays starting at the end of this week, and will return on 18 August. He'll do exactly as you ask, and give suggestions too.

Good luck!

You must mean Veltsu. He is great, my favourite since over a year. :ochesey:  Also very nice to talk to, which is important as I usually spend 2 hours there...

Oh yeah and he is starting his holiday beginning of August - I booked him on 31st of July. ;)

That may explain why so many Finnish guys keep long hair.

 I am noticing similar approach in Poland, however a bit different since most of the guys just shave their heads by themselves. The reason is usually NOT the lack of good barbers, but that these guys are lazy/out of money/they think going to barber is gay.
As a result all of them look like criminals...

I was using Aba at Image hair until he left the country, he was very good.

However, I heard that he has returned and is in Helsinki centre somewhere.
