You should call (for example after 35-40 days), otherwise it might take 450 days :D

when I am doing my residence permits, if I do not call they simply "forget" about it. :) Then call usually helps, but I do not know.... may be they just do not like me :)

Because of the large number of applications, the Finnish Immigration Service cannot take individual requests to hasten the processing of applications into consideration during the busiest period in the summer. Therefore e.g. plane tickets bought in advance cannot be taken into consideration.

I had applied for study residence permit to study in TKK (Helsinki University of Technology) on 17th June 2008 in Embassy of Finland, Kathmandu. So it has been more than 40 days and I've not heard anything from the embassy. However, calling embassy is not the solution because they simply forward the documents to the Finnish Migration board and would have called us if they had a reply already. So, I think I will email or call the Migration board around 8th august if I don't hear anything about my residence permit until then. The lady at the embassy who interviewed me also told me that I will be informed in 2 months about my decision and I need not call them. So, I think I've no option but to wait and wait and wait ................... I know documents have to be sent to Finland but even than I'm quiet suprised why they take such a long time...............
Btw anyone who has applied from Nepal been notified about their residence permit being approved. pls let us know

I had applied from Delhi too. I got my RP on Friday (25.07.2008) and I had applied on 23.06.2008. My processing took 5 weeks exactly. I would recommend you to call Migri @ +358 71 873 3400 (Mon to Fri b/w 9 AM and 3 PM Finland Time) and ask about the status of your application. They will answer your question. Well, they did answer mine!!!

Well, the processing time depends on the situation (i.e. the applicant, his/her application, whether all papers are in, whether they SUSPECT that something is wrong...). And most importantly, your application will not be the only one in the pile... Also the fact whether the school that admitted you has delivered your information to migri will play a role. If not, they will check the acceptance from the school directly...
