depends on your price range. finland is exorbitantly expensive, so anything "made in Finland" is cheaper bought elewhere...
- so what is your price range and what do you want? if you want "finnish things" or BRIO toys they are no outlets and no cheap... design also you can find but it is "design" as us proles cannot buy it
anyways you get the "tax-free for tourists" off major department stores

yes but the question is what you want to buy? "made in Finland" the special design or generic designed in Finland assembled in China?

sorry for being obtuse...

Hi,

Thank you for your effort.

My plans are to buy:

1. Coat for my daughter. I preapre a finnish coat.
2. A cheap cell phone (just for sms and conversations) using GSM network.
3. Cheap academic books until my next trip to Hay-on-Wye. I'm not counting on it in Finland.
4. Cloths for my wife and Daughter.
5. Lego - only in a discount or outlet shop.
6. Nick-Nacks.
7. Etc.

Best,
Menachem

Yes well for those there is no special "discount shop" available, you need to go for supermarkets that can give a "tax-free" label. and for the mobile phone it costs always more to buy in finland than abroad...

1) what sort of coat?
Winter coat? http://www.luhta.fi/mxl-fashion/luhtaww ... shion.html
Designer fashion coat? http://www.marimekko.fi/fi
Sports? http://www.halti.fi/dynamic/1/productlist/8/0/30.html

2) I understand that Nokia's cheapest model 1110? Can be bought for about €20.

3) This is Finland, cheap academic books are those printed here... i.e. in Finnish. English language books can be bought over the web for half the price.

4) Can you be any more vague?

5) Lego is from Denmark, elementary mistake, I suppose.

6) Image or Image?

7) Idiot.

Just be aware that when you buy "Tax-Free" from here and you travel to another EU country, you will need to claim your Taxes back from that EU country and you cannot open the package till then. If you travel outside EU from Helsinki, then you claim back those tax-free money from Vantaa Airport.
It means, that you pay for the full item here but claim the "Tax" when you go out of EU.
As others said, Cell phone is better off to buy it from somewhere.
What do you mean by a Finnish Coat? A winter jacket? or Wool? or a Finnish Brand name jacket?
Clothes are also pretty pricey here in Finland (normal clothes and not specialized winter wear) and a lot of them are imported from Bangladesh/India/Indonesia etc Even some of the Brand name Winter wear are now made across the Baltics in Estonia etc

Hi,

First: why should I be offended? People have no restrictions over forums, so it is more to with them than me.
Second: Thanks for you advise. Of course, Lego it is from Denmark. I thought they might have an outlet store in Helsinki as they have in other countries.
Third: Regarding Cloths, since it is a broad subject, I will look and see.

Best,
