Speaker of Native Danish is looking for work

Post by cheege » Tue Aug 05, 2008 10:17 am

Hi :)

I am a 25 year old Danish woman living in Tampere. I moved to Finland in March for personal reasons, to get new work
experiences and to learn a new language. The learning of the Finnish language is progressing quite OK, but concerning work experiences in Finland, I have unfortunately only had a short term project hiring as market research interviewer.

The summer 2003 I finished the Higher Commercial Examination (linguistic side) with good results; an upper secondary level course from Svendborg Commercial School in Denmark. Since, I have been working in various jobs and have attended (not finished) two bachelor degree educations; Journalism at University of Southern Denmark, and History, The Basis Study Year of Social Sciences at Aalborg University.

In short; the following is what I have to offer:
Computer skills: MS Office products, Open Office products, XP Pro, Vista 32 bit and played a little with Ubunto at some point.
Language skills: Danish as native language. English is fluent in speech and writing. Finnish still needs a lot of improving, but I am working on it. I have some knowledge of Spanish, French, Norwegian, German and Swedish.
A lot of life experience from ups and downs and from different types of jobs and studies
A very enthusiastic working spirit; willingness and commitment to learn and to take on new things; and the persistence and perfectionism to actually deal with unfamiliar tasks.

If anyone out there needs someone like me to do some work, please let me know by my e-mail: cheege@g-mail.com

you can edit your posts - and putting an email address so that it actually links is silly as you will get 100 penis extensions, 200 oil million dollars, 300 viagras and a partridge in a pear tree into your inbox.

Have you tried contacting the banks? The only Danes I know in Finland work in banking or in hotel management.

Yep, I knew about the possibility to edit the post, since I was editing it when I noticed the mistake in the first place. But anyways, thank you for telling me :) I didn't correct the e-mail in the post, in the odd chance that somebody actually had noted the mail for later use. In that case a subtle correction might make the change in the mail address go unnoticed. So public humiliation it is ...
And concerning the 100 penis extensions, 200 oil million dollars, 300 viagras and a partridge in a pear tree ... Heh good point, I'll note that

Oh dear, NO, no one told me that I had to leave it behind - I'll miss my potato then :(

penelope:
Actually the current application that I'm working on is for a hotel, but nope, I haven't thought of banking or hotel management before - Isn't some kind of higher education level needed, especially in the banking field? What level are the Danish people you know working on ? :)

so tell me then as a linguist, how does Native Danish differ from Civilized Danish, is it written in runes?

your best bet is the tourism industry - though Tampere isn't necessarily where they'd die to have you, more like lappland resorts, but it wouldn't be out of the league to seek for assistant/secretary positions in companies that do business especially in the schandinavian markets. one other possibility is I think it is in Tamnpere there pops up every now and then jobs for software testing (user interfaces probably) and maybe some document writing/translation... so just keep the feelers out...

The Dane I know who worked in a bank was a lawyer. But apparently (I have taught English in banks) the "financial" language of the Nordic countries is "Skandi" (whatever that is) so Swedish, Norwegian, Danish is a plus.... also some of the banks in Finland are owned/run by Danish companies.
