olympic games
OK, so is anyone exactly glued to the telly or is it just expecting another doping scandal?

Re: olympic games
Yeah, i feel like its all one big cheat at the moment, it doesn't really let you put much faith into any world records that are broken when athletes are getting caught left right and centre. I'm not a big fan but i do get caught up in these big events, especially the finals. Does Finland have many medal hopes? cannot we not tempt that shot putter out of retirement? was it Arsu?Pursuivant wrote:OK, so is anyone exactly glued to the telly or is it just expecting another doping scandal?

Re: olympic games
dunno... in sailing maybe... theres a few of the more "exotic" sports I'd like to see but they get little or no coverage... I guess all eurosports will be glued to beach volleyball... one interesting bit is how China will handle the media attention... huge PR but also chances for huge face loss...

Re: olympic games
yeah thats true, i like to watch the canoe/kayak events, something that is never shown otherwise. I personnally don't see the point in sports like tennis and football taking part, which already has mass coverage. Alos don't mind a bit of archery.

Re: olympic games
about the coverage - I'd never realized field hockey *was* an olympic sport even its been there since the beginning of modern games... just nothing ever shown...

Re: olympic games
There is an Olympic Games supplement in today's Hesari. Lots of articles and then details of all the TV coverage.
I think the opening ceremony starts at 3 am or thereabouts... I'll be in bed, asleep.
The French cycling team arrived at Beijing airport yesterday, they were ALL wearing masks. Maybe a bit OTT inside the airport terminal, unless they were planning to cycle to their hotel

Re: olympic games
Well i'm sure there are many different views depending on your favourite types of sports, i have to seriously question the inclusion of sports like .....Baseball? why? And drug test everyone, everyday and have public executions of anyone found positive!!! yeah ok i'm jesting.Rob A. wrote:...Looks like my views aren't so unique... But I guess there are enough "eyeballs glued to the TV sets" to keep the advertisers happy

Re: olympic games
A bit disrepectful, turning up for the cameras in the airport with those masks. I'm awaiting more fun and games along those lines.penelope wrote:The French cycling team arrived at Beijing airport yesterday, they were ALL wearing masks. I'm sure Antarctica Moon will be glued to NBC. In High Definition.

Re: olympic games
Maybe the athletes take all the drugs in order to make looking at the American cheerleaders even mildly interesting?

I think this should read 3pm in Finland
The opening ceremony of the Olympics in Beijing will be held in the Beijing National Stadium, and begin at 8:00pm CST (12:00 UTC)
CST or China standard time is +5 hours ahead of Finland
