Looking for friends - Mother-baby

Post by ann_dee » Mon Aug 11, 2008 10:16 am

Hi
I'm looking for friends (preferably engish speakingand Mother-Baby).. I am an Indian settled in Malaysia and have a 6 month old baby and yesterday when we went to another friends house i realised that when other people carry him he starts crying.. it got me worried that he's not used to seeing outside faces (which i so want him to). So was looking for friends whome he can slowly meet and hopefully get used to seeing new faces..
Anyone who would love to meet??

I'm also a new mom looking for friends in Finland. Where do you live? I'm about an hour west of Helsinki, in Lohja.

I'm from the US. Anyone around here want to meet up? My 8 month old loves to meet kids of all ages.

Hi all

I'm Finnish with a little 6 week-old baby girl and we'd be keen to meet up too. I've lived in various places around the world before and have just moved back this year so don't worry I know what it can be like living in another country.

We live in Helsinki city centre, which might be a good place to meet up although I'd be ready to venture further if there's somewhere else you'd prefer. I'm away next week but how about the week after that? We could all meet up for coffee?

If I may.... I suggest we start another mother/child meet-up for expat moms, like the one they used to have at Stockmann every Thursday (no one meets there anymore to the best of my knowledge). Let's pick a day (Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays are best for us) and a time and a place that anyone who wants to can meet up there the same day/time/place every week :) . I'll start by suggesting the Wayne's Coffee on the ground floor in Sanomatalo (this is the tall glass building next to the main post office in the center of Helsinki). It's very baby/child friendly, lots of high chairs available and also has a big open area with lots of space if you have a toddler who likes to run around.

If someone has a better idea please suggest it here, though imo Helsinki doesn't have many good indoor places to hang out if you have a noisy baby or very active toddler :?

We just got back a few days ago from a 4 month stay in the USA & it feels incredibly lonely being back here. I think meeting other moms is just what I need :D

Hi I am also new to finland with 15 month son, Liam. I would very much like to join your mom-baby group or gathering. If you could please confirm what day you are meeting and the time that would be appreciated. :)
Thanks very much

Hi ladies,

I decided to move back to America, but feel free to use my suggestions :). Someone has got to make an effort if you want this group to happen. PM each other, get phone numbers, etc... I've met a lot of great mothers here that way.

Best of luck to you all :D

hi

the m&ms used to meet in stockmanns but as most the kids are now nearly 2 and thereábouts eating in stockmanns is a bit difficult these days!we can start again somewhere else that is maybe easier if people are looking to meet up??i know towards the end no one was coming to stockmann..there is a lot of mums and if people are serious we can source a place where we can meet wkly and the kids can have room to play too.but people have to be willing to do this.
also there is an international group of mums that meet every tue morning in lauttasaari and there is finnish music for the kids too.

Wayne's Coffee would be good for me too - as for when, personally I'd prefer tuesday/thursday, or late afternoon monday/wednesday. How about everyone else?
