Death certificate

Post by network_engineer » Tue Aug 19, 2008 11:24 pm

Hi all,

My uncle passed away here in Finland while he was here as a tourist. Any idea where I can get a death certificate for him?

Thanks all.

Kind regards.

Väestönrekisterikeskus haves it, you need basic info like date of birth/name and they print it. not free but cheap.
Thats how it goes on locals, not sure if they register foreigners.

I guess you get one from the hospital. what else would be needed then for it to be recognized I'd suggest you ask the embassy.

OK, checked it out - the doctor in charge writes the death certificate so it is from the hospital. the information is then sent to the provincial government etc. but as for a foreigner who is not regitsered in Finland I don't think the maistraatti would be interested, but rather the nationals' own embassy. if you need help with the paperwork or whom to contact you can PM me
