After a few moments, one's mind does tend to ask the question, were drugs behind some of that? Perhaps not fuelled by suspicion, but as you say, too many burnings previous. I also wondered why all the swimming records were being smashed almost willy-nilly, but on further investigation it seems that the pools and even the lane dividers have been designed to assist the swimmers, eg. reducing resistance.otyikondo wrote:Having witnessed both of Mr. Bolt's performances - very different in their ways, but equally gobsmacking - I'm crossing my fingers he's the real deal, because it will be the end of track and field if he flags up positive. We've been burned so many times before, but this thing with the 200 metres was a force of nature - it got hardened cynics like me almost believing again. I had no idea of who took the other places in the race. Just couldn't take my eyes off the guy out in front.
Back to the sprinting phenomenon himself, he said the track was fast. But look at the size of the brute, compared to the others. 6'4'', near 2m is he? Once those legs get going, the comparatively stumpy lot don't seem to be able to cope with Bolt's stride length and pace. Perhaps this will change the sprinting world and the tenet that shorter folk make for faster runners. And maybe there's no need to assume it's doping behind those runs.
