Jobs for recent graduates

Post by oriole85 » Thu Aug 21, 2008 6:47 pm

Hello everybody,

I have been browsing this forum quite a long time and known quite enough about all the difficulties that I had to face when applying for a job in Finland. However, this comes the right time for me to confront those obstacles.

I am about to graduate from a University of Applied Sciences (BBA) with good results in International Business. I got 2 years experiences in office assistant and half year in sales. I can work for many positions from administrative works, to making market analysis, marketing plan, export plan... My Finnish is at basic level but I am willing to learn and improve it out of working time.

Even though I sent out a lot of job application but the most frustrating part was receiving no reply from the company. That makes me confused for not knowing what kind of skills that I lack of. If any one concerns, can you share with me your tips in applying for a job successful (at least being called for an interview). I would really appreciate that. And if anyone browsing this forum has an interest on my profile, could you please send a message to this email: nguyuyen@lpt.fi. My CV will be available anytime.

Thank you

yeah, thats one "cultural thing" or lack of thats very prevelent in Finnish companies - they don't answer the application letters (except the big ones might send a form letter that seems they do it about as happily as pulling teeth...)

There are many topics on the usefulness of international business studies, the chances of getting a job without fluent Finnish and the attitude from employers towards hiring foreigners. Search for them and read them. You'll get a good impression what you're up to (and also some useful tips).

It's true that there are lots of topics related my issue, however, most of them seem to be open debate without end.

There is a story about my friend, who posted a topic seeking for job here and fortunately got an offer from a manager. She sent the application for both the manager and the HR company which is hired to find suitable applicants for this position (She read about this position on a website also). The funniest part is a few days after the interview directly with the manager, she got approval from the manager and rejection from the HR company (in case of the HR company, my friend couldn't be called for an interview).

Anyone can give me an average rate of applications you've made before getting your current job :ochesey: So that I can keep on trying, trying, trying...
