Oo Lush Soaps in Finland!!

Post by Xochiquetzal » Thu Aug 21, 2008 5:52 pm

Why didn't anyone tell me?!? :)

I was in ISO Omena mall yesterday and about passed out with happiness.

Yes, I know they are more expensive than regular soap. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't drink coffee. I think I can justify luxury spending in the form of a soap :)

The (expensive) solid hair shampoo soaps are really excellent BTW. I took some to the mökki in the summer and now got more for here. They last for ages and smell really good. I even found one for the boys.

Solid hair soapbars, just like in childhood! :D

Penelope, how are they for the "quality" of hair? Better than supermarket brands? Than pharmacy products? Is there solid conditioner too or regular conditioner should be used after them?

Solid hair shampoo in mökki, Noooo
In mökki there should be hot liquid shampoo what almost burns your head (yes we dont have "washingroom" so shampoo etc is in sauna)

Yes we don't have a washing room either at the mökki and I also discovered the hard way that the nice liquid shampoo in a plastic bottle I got from Moko just couldn't cope with the heat. The bottle went soft and wobbly and the shampoo had the consistency of tap water. But the Lush soap discs (they are round, not bars) really hold their own, they are made with natural products and no packaging... so, great for the sauna. They do a special one for soft water areas (we pump well water into the sauna) but I guess you could even use them in sea water. And they smell good. Some have conditioner in, I think there is also separate conditioner and there are soaps for problem hair, dandruff, dyed hair etc etc. Just ask the girls in the shop, they have all the answers.

This one smells like tar... one of my kids uses it.

Conditioners are here:

BTW, most of the products are half the price in the UK (compare)

http://www.lush.fi/product_details.php?p=163 €13

the only bar soap I've had in the sauna is mäntysuopa  regular soap tends to harden and become separated...

I visited this one last week, picking up a gift for Mrs Zax birthday. Staff were very nice and ultra-helpful, and I realised how completely ignorant I was regarding smelly/soapy products :)

I mean... they have shampoo bars???? I didn't even know what a bath bomb was. I think the shop assistant finally realised from my blank looks that telling me about their products exfoliating/moisturisation/deforestation/asphyxiation abilities wasn't helping much. How do ladies keep track of all of this stuff?

In the end just picked the nicest looking box set, paid my €€€€€€€'s and left before I passed out thru soap vapour inhalation...

Thank you penelope.

Yes, the price seem to be a bit out there... But it seems Lush is all over Europe so can get it when going somewhere I guess. even a trip to Tallinn would do. :ochesey: That same product is 105eek there, which is what? under 7eur I think. But over 5 pounds. Wow, UK is cheaper.. :o

I have to say that i really HATE the smell of the Lush shops - i can taste it 5 shops away!!

But i want to know - are the products supposed to be healthier for you? Or better for the environment?

I think the smell is a big improvement on the previous ambient pong of Carroll's + Hesburger + Chicco's and the Wok place. But would agree it is slightly aggressive - oppressive. Not sure Body Shop and Occitane will survive the Lush invasion with its prime position in the central area.

Anyway here's the hype...

...no animal testing, vegetarian ingredients, etc etc. Similar business model to Body Shop I suppose, only not so much plastic.

I was really quite impressed by the stuff I have used so far and will definitely buy some more in the UK when I go next month; the Finnish prices are a bit OTT.

healthier/better than what?
