How to make kalakukko? (Fish pie)

Post by luckykitty » Fri Aug 29, 2008 11:50 pm

Hi,
What's the correct thing to do if you are using small fish, like muikku (vendace)?
Do you have to take the head and fins and all the guts out, or can you use them whole in the pie?
Is it really like 6-7 hours to bake btw?

Dont know about pie but only thing you get out is guts, other is eatable. Thats case in atleast fried muikku what is good, now im hungry again :(
You can remove head, some people dont like heads. (my sister used to take head and fishbones out of it...)
I checked few recipes and yes its 4 to 7 hours.

I'm so lazy I'd go to the market to buy one ;)
