Aquaculture in Tampere: Kalakasvaja Tamperella

Hello all, I'm (failing well... failure) going to be an Aquaculture graduate here in Australia at the end of the year, after that I'll be applying for a working holiday Visa if I graduate and moving to Tampere sometime early next year. Now my Finnish is decent, I rarely have a problem understanding or being understood (though my grammer and syntax is terrible, making me sound like a moron) but well the Australian aquaculture industry is nearly unilaterally bigoted. I was wondering if anyone knew if I'd find the same problem in Finland, if there's any farms around Tampere and whether I'd just be wasting my time applying for those jobs. Also I've heard good things about factory work in Tampere, anyone know anything about that?

Dont know about work in tampere or such but kalakasvaja (fish, grower. to be one you have to be a fish and grow).. well its logical word but correct would be kalankasvattaja (one who grow up fish) and its Tampereella, you missed one e

Kalanviljelylaitos (place to farm fish) is place youre looking for i think.
Dont know if that helps but atleast you have correct words to google

I think they grow more fish in the sea, so I'd look for a job almost anywhere - so on the coast and they speak what they claim is Swedish... there are quite a few small enterprises inland but then again if you go looking for fish+job that brings up the packing factories in Norway... it seems there isn't too many open job ads

Aye well that'd be good but my missus isn't going to uni in Trondheim. I know there's several Atlantic Salmon and Arctic Charr installations around Finland and I was just wondering if there was any around Tampere.

Anyone know about the Factory jobs in Tampere?

About fisheries etc... if there are any, these guys would know: Tampere area - http://www.kalatalo.fi/kalatalouskeskus.htm and on a national level http://www.ahven.net

Factory jobs... you could try trawling the http://www.mol.fi site (employment services) - in English: http://www.mol.fi/mol/en/index.jsp - could be easier to search for the jobs once you're in the country though...

Then again if all else fails you could try getting a part-time vacancy as a turbot at the Särkänniemi Aquarium...

IIRC there is at least one in the area. (no further information tho)
There is also a large (?) aquarium in Tampere.

You may want to try through the Kalankasvattajaliitto - The fish farmer's union.This link is to those that grow food fish and this linkis to those that breed fingerlings. For other aquaculture jobs you may want to contact the Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute, p'haps Jyväskylä uni, that'd be closest to Tampere. Jobwise depends on what your focus is. Another aspect would be the fishfeed companies Rehu Raisio, Biomar. I'm in the same field btw.

By the way I must say thanks for all the help and suggestions guys, when (if) I get there we'll have to have some

s, anywhere but in the Aussie bar, that place irks me due to history. Why would someone go on exchange halfway across the world to drink Australian beer, with Aussies, speaking English?
