My apartment has containers for the usual stuff - mixed, bio, paper and cardboard. And there's a glass container in my neighborhood.
But what do I do with plastic? I checked out the ytv website and didn't find anything there. Is plastic considered part of mixed waste?

Their Finnish site has more detailed information. Household plastic waste is not recycled because it is a mixed bag of different types. Recycling would require sorting it all out, which is apparently too expensive or difficult. And even if that weren’t the case, household plastic waste is often not clean enough to qualify for recycling.moomi wrote:But what do I do with plastic? Some stores, however, do maintain separate reception points specifically for plastic bags.
Plastic beverage bottles with a deposit can be returned to reverse vending machines in grocery stores.

In the absence of one labelled Energiajäte then it goes into mixed waste.moomi wrote:My apartment has containers for the usual stuff - mixed, bio, paper and cardboard. And there's a glass container in my neighborhood.

Don't know where the OP lives but in the Iso Omena mall in Espoo on the parking level there is a recycle centre that takes "energy" waste including plastic packaging (WITHOUT PVC) and then a separate bin for plastics WITH PVC.
