I would be interested to know, in exact or very approximate terms is fine, what would be the waiting times involved when scheduling for surgery (removing the spleen), and what would be the costs involved for an uninsured person (again approximate, even to the closest thousand euro is fine).
Also, if something on this level can be performed at a private clinic (like Mehiläinen), or it needs to be done at the public hospital.
Story behind this is - i want to get my father operated here. He is a special case, as the surgery is done to remove a cancer growing in there.
The surgery can easily be done back in Romania also, but the thing is that there's no one to visit him in the hospital every day there, and it would be good for morale to have someone close.
So i'm more than ready to pay whatever necessary in transport and hospital costs, just to know he's ok.
Waiting times and surgery cost for uninsured person
Re: Waiting times and surgery cost for uninsured person
Have you contacted Mehiläinen?
They would be the best judge and best place to get an estimate instead of here..
Another thing is to contact a Surgeon privately and ask them a quote!! They will probably know who and how they will perform a surgery ( If needed and charges for medical equipment etc and places to recover etc)..
You can also call Jorvi or meilahti to find out about this!! Calling them and asking them would get you closer to your answer than asking here..
