Before buying a car in Finland

Post by aniorek » Tue Sep 30, 2008 3:38 pm

I am planning to buy a car next year. I have been saving car money for quite a while and since Finland is a tax paradise (for the state), I would like to make sure that everything goes according to The Law. Do I need to prove to Vero where I have my savings from? I mean, it came from different sources (part-time student jobs, small gifts, current employment in Finland), and most of it I managed to save before coming to Finland.

At least in Poland if you want to spend a bit more money than usual, the tax office wants to know where it comes from...

Thanks to all FF experts, I hope I'm not getting a tax paranoia. ;)

if you have it in the bank (in Finland) then nobody is much interested... except your neighbours getting jealous. if you need to transfer it from poland theres a few bells that start ringing but thats due to the EU money laundring rules.

Yeah there wouldn't be any problem with where the money came from if you buy a car here and the money is drawn from your Finnish bank account. Even cash is ok and wouldn't ring any bells at a dealership, well maybe it would if you paid cash for an 80,000€ car but I have a feeling that's not the case here.
