Foot orthotics

Post by blaugrau » Fri Oct 03, 2008 10:57 am

My foot orthotics (which I'm wearing due to a slightly slant pelvis and a resulting difference in the length of the legs) are on their last legs and need replacement sometime soon. Does anyone of you know how to proceed in this question? Would I need to go to doctor to a have a proper diagnosis/prescription for them or are there orthopedic shops or something that would be able to simple copy the ones I have (if I tell them the difference in leg length)?

Thanks in advance for any hints in this matter...

There are two podiatrists at Dextra and they make orthodics. When you call to make the appointment, make sure you know how to say podiatrist in Finnish - i saw 2 different types of doctors before i actually got to the podiatrist because the person i made the appointment with didn't understand my English very well. You don't need to see a gp first.

All the best

By the way, you don't happen to know whether Kela will chip in a bit? But I guess I'll find out soon..

I recently got a pair of these ... http://www.sidas.com/

I was referred by the workplace doctor, I prefer to wear safety shoes at work and there is no support for the arch in them. The company paid for the first pair ... €136,65.

The podiatrist told that if you want more pairs, once they have set up the machines / moulds, subsequent pairs are half price so I got a second pair for €68.

There did not seem to be any mention of Kela on the bill, so I suppose there is no contribution.
