Balcony privacy screen

Post by moomi » Mon Oct 06, 2008 12:23 pm

I'd like something that would line the balcony railing to provide some privacy. I've seen bamboo-type ones on various apartments, but when I checked K-Rauta, didn't find anything there.

Is there any place in downtown Helsinki where I could find this?

http://www.biltema.fi search for "BAMBURULLAVERHO".

edit: biltema is mail order company with some shops. So you can order blinds to your nearest post office.

Thanks, but I was actually thinking about something to line the railing and not necessarily use as blinds. I'd still like to be able to see out the windows. Or is this what people do, use the blinds by turning them horizontally to use as a fence screen?

I live on a corner side, and there's a considerable amount of the balcony to cover. Are there any other cheaper alternatives?

Ah, my mistake. I thought balconies and first thing to pop in my mind was ddr ghetto where the railings were/are made of concrete. How about curtains? Is your balcony exposed to weather or does it have glass panes?

I guess you could call it a patio instead. =)

It's glassed paneled. But now that the trees are bare, I'd like a little more privacy when I'm sitting out there with my breakfast. Just something that covers the railing but not the view. I thought about curtains, but it would cover too much.

Check the gardening section of hardware stores. They might have some short fences made out of willow branches or something like that that you could use. Now that its fall time they might not have much of gardening things and yard stuff. Try Bauhaus or places that have a larger selection of things.
