full spectrum lamps or bulbs

Post by Cynde » Sun Oct 05, 2008 9:31 pm

Does anyone know where to get full spectrum light bulbs or a whole lamp? I have seen the kind people stare into during winter but what I want it for is reading and handcrafts. (and those cost way over 100 €)

Hi. I just bought some last week.

If you go to Bauhaus, they will have a selection of different spectrum bulbs in the "energy saving" bulbs section.

They even have them lit up so you can see the colour of each bulb.

I chose 11W 65000 lux bulbs by MegaMan (the color of daylight).

I have this workshop / desk area where I do work and have my PC and I sit about 2/3 of the time I am at home. I put two of the bulbs along the wall with small downward hanging wall lamps (also from Bauhaus).

The room's "main light" is a 15W 65000 lux bulb also by MegaMan.

The room is bright, but it's definitely not overdoing it, and it doesn't give me a headache.

In addition to these high lux bulmbs, they also have a couple "full spectrum" lamps, but they are for plants so the color is a bit green.

The difference between the two is that the 65000 lux don't hit the low end of the spectrum, but you are getting this from normal lights bulbs all day anyways. If you really want to do a "proper" mix, you could buy a two-bulb wall lamp, and in one slot put a low lux bulb and in the other put a high lux bulb.

Oh yea, price of the bulbs was 20€ a pop, but they come with something nutty like a 10,000 hour guarantee.

I can understand people going to Bauhaus and not finding stuff in 5 minutes as it confuses the hell out of me as well, but claiming they don't sell any is always a puzzle... yeah, they ain't cheap. Tarjoustalo hopefully is... need to restock with my energy savers...

For me, it's not so much "going and not finding"... The problem is "going and finding out it's not there". :x :x :x
