Hi Moms,
Ive been reading on and off requests for meeting up and getting together. I dont know if any of you guys did meet up but wouldnt it be nice if someone could co-ordinate this. Any volutanteers? If not I´d like to try and get something going. If you are interested in forming a Mother and Baby group please PM me with your details, your nationality not it matters but just for interest sake, which area do u live in, how old your little one is and on which days and times you are free to meet. I will then try to find a suitable time for us to finally meet up. The only thing worse than winter itself is being alone in winter. Im sure we all have so much in common and will have a fun time together and most importantly our kids can play and have fun too.
Ok moms it's up to you.I look fwd to all the PM's
Take care

Hello there
I have got details of an international group which meets on tuesdays mornings in Lauttasaari from 10-12. I will be going for the first time tomorrow (if I can find it!) but please pm me if you want the details. It sounds very organised etc. Not to say there could not be a second meeting a week - some weeks feel very long and two meetings breaks them up a bit!

Hi
Here is the info I got sent about the playgroup. Fridolin and I went today and enjoyed it, Fridolin loved the music class... I might see you there next week? sarah
The International Playgroup has begun meeting at the Agora Community Centre behind the library at Pajalahdentie 10B in Lauttasaari on Tuesdays from 10am. The format for the morning is as follows:
Meet in the centre around 10am. Coffee and snacks will be available from 10.30am (Cost is € 3). The coincides with the weekly coffee gathering for the Centre's members, held from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Move into the gym with the toys at 11am after the yoga class has finished.
A baby music class (run by the The Mannerheim League for Child Welfare) is held at from 11.30am - 12pm. Cost is € 6 per session. The session has been especially created for non-Finnish speakers attending the Agora centre. The teacher, Mirka Metsäranta, translates all the songs to English and helps mothers, as well as children, in their first Finnish words. The music class is highly recommended for all ages.
The Centre's activities for the day finish up at around 12.30pm.
The Agora Community Centre is run by volunteers and has a roster for people to provide the food each week. By way of support, the centre asks that you volunteer on a Tuesday that you will attend over the next few months to bring along some snacks (either sweet or salty), catering for about 20 -25 people. There is a sign-up sheet for this.
Finally, the new contact person for the playgroup is Nicola Bjorklund (nicola.bjorklund@yahoo..com). Nicola and her daughter Alanna attend as often as they can and will assist in the coordination of the group. It is always nice to have some backup though, so please let Nicola know if you can also help to coordinate the group on occasions. Please provide her with any support you can. Her contact number is 040 595 0865.

I am also excited about this, so I'm looking forward to the end of the week for news

Re: Looking for friends - Mother-baby(First meeting)
Hi moms,
Lets get this play group started
It seems the most common days available to everyone is on a tues and thurs in the afternoons. So lets meet next tues 23rd at 2pm and then we can take it from there. We can meet at Waynes coffee the one opposite the post office in the city center its in the same mall with that Eurokangas shop so its easy to find.
I was also thinking it would be nice if we could circulate some photo's of ourselves before we meet so that its less of a blind date when we meet.lol. If you could be so kind to fwd me your email address then I will send out an attachement and you guys could then just reply to all and fwd your pics to each other.
ok i think thats its for now. please let me know if you will be able to attend or if maybe thurs will be better.
cheers

Re: Looking for friends - Mother-baby
Hi i am very interested in the mother baby club or just getting to know someone out there who is available and wants their child to meet other children from different back ground. I am a bahamaian living in finland with a 15 yr old and a 3½ both girls. My problem is that most of you talk about the Helsinki or surrounding areas. I live in Joensuu and is finding a hard time meeting mothers or just friends. If there is anyone from Joensuu that is interested please contact me

Re: Looking for friends - Mother-baby
Hi, I have 4 month old girl Anna. I know she is rather young but I believe the sooner she starts being with other babies, the better. We would love to meet with some other mums and their babies.
Re: Looking for friends - Mother-baby
Hi
I don't have my baby yet (I'm due in March) but I'd love to meet other women-moms that are not from here for a chat...
I'm really shy
and I'm having a hard time going to other people.
I've been here nearly 4 years now and even if I don't mind being alone, sometimes it's kind of tough - being far from family and friends, etc.
So if you have a group or something like that, I'd like to get to know you all and why not join up

Hi there,
I'd be keen to meet some mums and babies as well. I've got two boys, almost 3 years old and 8 months old respectively. We moved back to Finland just 3 months ago. My hubby's Kiwi. Technically I'm Finnish, although I didn't grow up here. My older boy really misses his friends in NZ. Are there any other 3-year olds in your group?
