Porvoo Healthcare
Can anyone please help me out and name me the local healthcare facilities in Porvoo?!?
I couldn't find anything from the town's website and have no clue where else to search.
Thanks a lot!

Re: Porvoo Healthcare
stop being silly. its right there on their pages => palvelut => terveyspalvelut => terveysasemat or service => hälsovårdtjänster => hälsostationerna
but then you need to know where you live and which "solu" you belong to.

Could you be so kind to translate me what it says?
Do I have to make an appointment first or can I go to the speaking hours without?
All I need is a new prescription from the doctor. So it would be stating my symptoms and getting the prescription, maybe a 10 minutes thing. But as I have heard numerous stories about the Finnish health care, I am a bit worried.. .

Re: Porvoo Healthcare
basically you can go to the ER without appointment, but theres the time to call and get a time, and for the prescription the best thing is to have your old diagnosis and the old prescription as in different countries the same pill comes in a different package. but if you are working now as an aupair or with your BF ask where they go to as your address dictates which one you "belong" to.
and yes bring the German documents as all the medical books were in German here still to the 70's, so its more likely Dr.Mengele reads better German than English...

Thank you.
Do you know how long it usually takes to get an appointment?

Re: Porvoo Healthcare
unless you are picky can be the same day, next day or next week... honestly, I haven't lived in Porvoo since 1994 and I only went to the Gammelbacka jour maybe once

Re: Porvoo Healthcare
Alright, thankies once again.
I haven't yet been registered (gonna do that tomorrow) but I own a European insurance card, so I suppose that's enough also, isn't it?
(Pardon my many 'stupid' questions. I have lived here for quite some time already, with little breaks, but haven't ever needed to consult a doctor here yet, so I am quite dumb in that field still.

Re: Porvoo Healthcare
well, I can say as I am working and go to the company clinic I don't have any clue as to where I'd go for my local clinic... then again the "knowlege" is in that you know whom to ask.

Re: Porvoo Healthcare
one more question: do i have to see the 'tourist doctor', as i don't yet own a finnish social number etc., or is that out of matter?
Re: Porvoo Healthcare
There are no "tourist doctors". A doctor is a doctor.
Walk to your nearest health center and talk to a nurse. She will book you a time. You can also take your old presription with you. For example for blood pressure medication you just leave an old prescription to the health care center, and get a new one in one week.
