You Vit D levels are prolly still fine. Even on a cloudy day your body absorbs Vit D from the sun. Be sure to leave some skin showing though: roll up your sleeves for 15-20 mins when you are walking outside.
Vit D supplements can be bought from the pharmacies: eg Sanasol is one that I give my kids. If you are an indoor person, or if you have darker skin (which does not absorb Vit D so quickly) then it might be an idea to take a supplement.

Pretty sure the sun doesn't get high enough in the sky in winter here to allow the UVB rays to produce vitamin d in the body. Best bet is supplementation in late autumn through to early spring (tablets from the chemist and the supermarket) if your diet looks like it would be too low in good sources of vitamin d.

Well, true enough for the summer months, but during the winter it would probably be a good idea for everybody to ensure that they get enough vitamin D either through diet or suplements, as there isn't enough UVB coming through from the sun (as Kupcake already said). The reserve of vitamin D that we get during the summer will carry over for quite some time, if I have understood correctly, but in the middle of the winter it is quite common to have (and get) too little vitamin D. Children under the age of 15 should get supplements at least during winter months, and small children, 2 or under, should get supplements year round (they shouldn't sit in direct sunligth in the summer). http://www.stm.fi/Resource.phx/ajank/su ... amiini.htx

If I remember correctly you build up Vitamin D in body fat during the Summer and then use it in the Winter. I Finland there isn't enough UV light for you to produce any.
I normally just take some multivitamin pills (and some extra Vitamin C if there's Flu around) to make sure that I get everything I need. It is recomended to give Babies (and children, I s'pose) Vitamin D supplements - after all they're covered up all Summer and Winter here
For them you get them as drops that you can stick in their milk/gruel/porridge/...

I noticed in today's HBL that Osteoporoosiliitto, the Osteopososis Association, had made a press release a few days back about vitamin D. Here is an online news version, but only in Finnish, sorry: http://elisa.net/uutiset/ruoka/?id=3759
They want the daily recommendation for vitamin D to be doubled accordingly to new research (the current recommendation is 7.5-10, they would want it increased to 15-20 micrograms). They say that currently over 40% of the Finnish population have a vitamin D deficiency. The sun will provide enough vitamin D only (as an only source) from the end of June to the beginning of August, and getting it only from (enriched) milk one would have to drink over 4 liters of milk to get the recommended 20 micrograms. They therefore also suggest that D-vitamin should be included at larger doses in the currently enriched products and/or added to new ones.
What I found interesting was that one can get a whole year's supply of Vitamin D from a shot costing only a few euros. The downside is that that shot isn't sold in Finland due to low demand. One would think that it would be a good investment especially for the elderly, as broken hip bones aren't that cheap to treat.

People have asked me many times if the weather here depresses me, my reply is 'no I use to live in Scotland for many years', same weather, same vitamin D deficiency, but I tend to walk a lot so maybe that's why I don't feel like the weather at this time of year, miserable. Maybe people who do feel miserable should drag themselves out when there's a break in the weather even if the sun is only shining for a little while. 10 to 15 minutes of sunshine 3 times a week is enough to produce the bodily requirement of vitamin D.
Vitamin D can be found in Cheese, Butter,Cream, fatty Fish, Oysters, Margarine, I think they put it in soymilk/soyamilk.
You should be careful not to 'overdose' on vitamin D supplements there can be a medical risk.

Yes, interesting. There has been a lot of research published in the last few months ago Vitamin D. They are now exploring links with Parkinson's:
