Re: Norwegian crabmeat
Depends where you are. If by Norwegian crab meat you mean Kamshatka giant crab that has spread from Russia to Norwegian coast, you get that in Lapland, starting from Rovaniemi. Fresh.
I have never tasted it. But I have asked from a friend who lives in northern Norway what it tastes like. He said that it is nothing special. What does it taste like?

Reminds me of...EP wrote:What does it taste like?
Roman nobleman (offering some biscuits): Have a taste at these... they're made with nightingales' tongues from Northern Gaul, caviar from the northernmost boundaries of the barbaric lands, cockroaches' gums from Mongolia... well, how do you find them?"
Obelix: Salty.
Roman nobleman: Tscha... barbarians...
(from Asterix the Galdiator)

But crabmeat... I think I bought some tinned (can't remember if it was Norwegian or not) some time ago from Stockmann's. Could be that they sell frozen stuff too? Didn't check since I only needed a bit, for garnishing pike-perch Walewska.
Re: Norwegian crabmeat
No, not the giant crab, just the usual sized crab caught off the coast of Norway. It's sweet and a little salty - not little flakes, good chunks of meat. I've found Russian crab meat in K-Citymarket - but i want Norwegian, and the one in the supermarket was 40 euros for a tiny tin. Bit out of my price range. I've tried my friends at Hakaniemi, but none of them can help.EP wrote:Depends where you are. Phew, definitely out of my price range too - the tinned crab I bought was not Norwegian then I suppose! Well... seems that Norwegian crabmeat is a "luxury product"... maybe it is expensive for a reason?
