looking for the best chocolate chip cookies in the world

Post by suomineito » Mon Oct 20, 2008 10:34 am

i bought pepperidge farm chocolate chunks (dark chocolate) from stockman and liked those. but - those were so similar to the ones i always had when living in nyc... but i can´t remember the name of the best cookies in the world! we actually ate those cookies often as they were always part of our what-ever-get-together but none of us remembers the name. strange. it was a regular size light blue and white paper package full of large cookies and i usually purchased those from the corner of hudson st / franklin st deli which was close to my home as i found out you couldnt find them everywhere. but we found those at hamptons too, so it needs to be some kind of trademark. i tried to google and spent way too much time without any result. but im sure i will recognise the package if only i get to see it. it was around 2 years ago i had those last time, so i guess the package still looks pretty much the same as it looked like one with the original package design more than 50 years old... i know this sounds very absurd, but any ideas? simply the best cookies i have ever had...

Hmmmm. You sure they're American? They sell a TON of different products at the corner delis in NYC, many of them foreign. The only chocolate chip cookie I can think of in a blue package is Chips Ahoy, but those are rubbish. Full of artifical ingredients and chemicals and such. Total junk.

thanks for replying. im 99% sure theyre american... and no, chips ahoy is not the right answer :) the package im looking for doesnt look so commercial, so "plastic" or new. the one is more... traditional, handmade/farmers market stuff... and it is mostly white, with a hint of light blue. more guesses? :)

well, are you SURE they weren't a local thing then? even if you found them in the hamptons (you snazzy dog, you), they still might be a local product which is distributed regionally.

Famous Amos? Though I preferred their muffins, they make decent cookies.

ETA: It seems the muffins are under the name Uncle Wally now.

Thanks for that, I'm now drooling.

We (ex- and I) used to get their chocolate fudge cake in Tesco when I was a student.

Hey, no problem :)

I love them too...it's like a flashback to childhood, haven't had some of that great stuff myself in about 10 years... :ohno:
Although apparently my mom knew the Entenmanns when they were still just a small corner bakery-type place.

i checked and its not famous amos.

can be a local thing then... i dont know. but anyway, you can find those in some delis in manhattan, and some places in the hamptons too (possibly in hunderds of other places as well), so it cant be just some random family selling their cookies in a family-run farmers market - or if it is, theyre doing pretty well. im thinking if i should ask from my deli... but couldnt find email, only phone number... (but i guess they wont find the answer in a minute, so the answer will cost me quite a lot..)

its in your first pic, up in left corner with that blue round icon. those are walnut chocolate chip cookies, but they make regular ones too, and maybe some others... but, whats the name of the company? my eyes cant read the text in blue icon, its too small...
