Eon or Fortum - Whichone is cheaper
I am moving to Leppavara in December in a 2 rooms apartment 48m, for which electric supply company should i go for. EON or Fortum or is there any other cheaper option.

Remember, that you have only one company as distributor for energy (about 50% of the electric bill) and other company that is making the energy. Leppävaara seems to be part of Espoo, so I put Fortum as the distributor and vaihtovirta gave Vattenfall as the cheapest option.

I seem to remember hearing my SO swearing a few days ago... I think Fortum are putting their prices up by 6%.
In the good old days there was Espoo Electricity.... but then the council sold off bits to E-On and then the Kokoomus people decided to sell Espoo's shares in E-On to Fortum, so E-On became Fortum and then they invested the proceeds of the sale in Some Interesting Investment Opportunities (run by the World's Best Investment Advisors) so God only knows how much they've lost on that.

We heat our house with Russian oil
and wood from the mökki
But we still use Fortum for the rest.
All this rain....
Thinking of damming the river at the back of our yard and setting up a little hydroelectric generator....
Or, according to some "journalist" in last month's 6-degrees I should seriously consider solar power... anyone else read that column?

After all the options, you can ask for any of the cheapest Electricity operators for a "Tarkka" tarjaousto!!
That is the market price that you pay..instead of the other marketed packages prices.

I didn't see the column. Was it about solar thermal or solar electrics? I haven't seen any solar-powered electrical systems that would be economically viable if you have mains power available. Solar thermal can be worth it though. Our system produces about 7000 Kwh per year, which saves a little on the fuel bills.penelope wrote:Or, according to some "journalist" in last month's 6-degrees I should seriously consider solar power... anyone else read that column?

You have to look beyond the end of your nose, and view it over the whole year.Pursuivant wrote:solar? has anyone looked out of the window lately?

you can stick your nose to your wallet and smell what the suave salesmans pitch left there. solar power requires sun, there isn't sun in Finland. the average is 30 sunny days in the year as opposed to 300 somewhere in the Med.

seriously solar isnt a viable option for Finland at all...maybe go wind or devise a way to generate electricity through rain safely...Pursuivant wrote:you can stick your nose to your wallet and smell what the suave salesmans pitch left there. solar power requires sun, there isn't sun in Finland. the average is 30 sunny days in the year as opposed to 300 somewhere in the Med.

Re: Eon or Fortum - Whichone is cheaper
Totally agree. Unless you complement it with other sources for Heat generation, Solar aint gonna cut it.Pursuivant wrote:you can stick your nose to your wallet and smell what the suave salesmans pitch left there. solar power requires sun, there isn't sun in Finland. the average is 30 sunny days in the year as opposed to 300 somewhere in the Med.
Most houses that we seen are using a combo of Pelletti, Solar and määlämpöpumppu

Re: Eon or Fortum - Whichone is cheaper
the lämpöpumppu is a viable one, but it also needs electricity to run... problem being you have to be in balance with not only the heating costs but the building costs and then also have a clear crystal orb of whats it going to be like the next 20 years. not much use planning on profiting from your house if its a bottle and rots with mildew like they did in the 1980's...
