Hi all
Greetings from the US.
My boyfriend will be moving to Helsinki for graduate school in August 2009. I would like to join him - but I am having trouble finding a job. I am currently a research technician/assistant in the US. I have a bachelor's degree in molecular biology and biotechnology. I understand Espoo is FULL of biotech firms - however, I am having trouble finding any information regarding foreign employment, because, unfortunately, I do not speak/read Finnish.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where/how I can go about searching for positions? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: Science - Research Technician/Assistant Opportunities
Thank you for the links - they are quite useful.
It's unfortunate that Turku is so far from Helsinki. I guess it's good I still have around 9 months before I really have to start looking.
Your information was greatly appreciated - kiitos!

gives a few hits for Biotech ... it's in Finnish, but gives company names, which you can then feed into google for more info and possibly an English language website..
http://www.suomenyrityshaku.fi/hakusana/bio/kaikki
gives a much larger number of hits when searching just for "bio", and many may not be relevant. If you have time and patience you may find some useful company names (remember many of these will be a few man startup type, so not many open positions available.
Many small firms to go to the wall quickly as happens with biotech, so some of them probably aren't even trading any more.
Also, as a "heads-up", if you have only got a B.Sc. (Masters is the standard here) and are looking for low level work, it's unlikely (IMHO) that you will get a job offer as you don't have a work permit. In order to get a company to support your application for a work permit the company has to say that they couldn't find someone in Finland with your skills.
