Selling an imported car

Post by StephenRudd » Sun Dec 21, 2008 3:48 pm

When we moved to Finland 5 years ago, we came with our cars that were duly registered and taxed as personal removal properties. This comes with the taxation free rule that they can't be sold within 3 years of purchase, or within at least 12 months of registration in Finland.

Within the TULLI regulations there is reference to these imported cars being marked on a register. Is this something that we need to unregister before we can sell the cars? Is there a "mark-of-the-beast" that needs to removed from any of the documents before we proceed in replacing a now remarkably wobbly, aged, high-mileage and faded Opel (or mint condition used car by Finnish standards  )

A little advice could save some faux-pas later!

Cheers

Stephen

I am not sure of the newfangled sheets, but in the old ones there was 2-3 lines of text someplace stating the moratorium period. you should call up Tulli and ask, they're revamping the system all the time... or AKE - their registration helpline is pretty helpful in explaining things.
