No, no Vares, but Kaurismäki´s Man Without a Past. And yes, it is famous, because:
"The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2002 and won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival."

It is bit weird movie but there you see finnish silence, exaggerated but still silence is part of discussion6Musta6Enkeli6 wrote:mies vailla menneisyyttä

That is good to look for practise of language tho, clearly pronounced book finnish as all Kaurismäki films what i remember.
There is some finnish movies, like vares, in piratebay but depends on your local law and your moral if you can download those.

they're talkative in that one.... OK - so you have an egg timer. put the timer for one half hour. take two raw eggs and keep them in your hands palms up. now do not move your hands or talk for one half hour. that is the first Finnish lesson. body language when speaking and the most important part of the discussion.

As i said its exaggerated, there is silent moments and there is no need to talk if you dont have anything to say6Musta6Enkeli6 wrote:cool....so Finns are not thaaaaat silence, eikö?

I dont have experiences from other countries so i have to trust that on people who moved here and they say finns are silent. Never seen study about that so this is hearsay. But i have to admit that when i talk with my best friend there can be 30sec or so silent moments, why talk when you dont have anything to say?
Once there were atleast 30min quietness when we were fishing, all said and no new info so why open your mouth. Finnish can talk a lot too when they have something to say

Finns can be excited and talkative too

well there is a stereotypical divide between the east and west. and now that they've said that there is a genetical divide it seems the west has an extra tendon keeping the jaw locked
it depends on people and personalities also. but lets say its nothing unusual either...

It s like there are some invisible teleports to Greece in your relatives´ houses Joensuussa ja Ilomasntsissa myös! Here it s always like that and my fragile nerves are breaking!
THis is just cruel! I am obviously not one of the non-Finns that do that...! U can t understand the extent here...relative friends...blablabla i suppose if u talk less you say more important and thoughtful stuff and u really mean them when you do! HEre it s just blahblahblah BLAH! and if i stay silenced they do notice pretty quick and start asking hei, sweetie what s wrong? Why are u not speaking? Tell me what happended to u? And i go like nthing s wrong i am just thinking, i hv nthng to say,,,and they all go like (and that s the annoying part) oh c mon now...i know u! I can easily tell that sth is matter with u...!oh god....

Ilomantsi and Joensuu... In fact the Dean of the Ilomantsi orthodox parish is currently one Ioannis Lampropoulos, who first came as an Erasmus exchange student to Finland some years ago. Maybe you should ask him how to do it

En ollut tietoinen ettei suomessa ole lammitysta, vaan etta HE JUOVAT PYSYAKSEEN LAMPIMANA , well some news...
