Hi,
We just got ourselves new toy, Wii over the weekend and I am having trouble connecting to internet. We are on Sonera ADSL that comes with Zyxel P660 WiFi modem/router. Apparently, for Sonera connection, the router has to be set to Bridge mode, instead of router. Therefore, the router feature on the hardware is useless since the IP is assigned from the provider. Apparently, Wii doesn't like this settings, therefore I'm not able to go online on Wii. I'm able to go online using WiFi on the laptop and PDA. Help me please..
Connecting Wii to Sonera DSL
Re: Connecting Wii to Sonera DSL
Unless, you have a complete bridge then your zyxel is useless..
Its just a pipe.. enable the DHCP server and wlan server in your admn menu..
in wlan menu choose the encryption....( WEP or WPA ?)
then if you choose to filter, you need to filter in both wlan and Lan settings.. as well as define static ip params ( for your private ip connections).
So I dont understand your "bridging " of Sonera DSL connections..
If you can be more specific..then it could help..
I was able to connect the Wi to a WPA advanced enabled router with mac filter, lan filter and ip filter without any issues..

Re: Connecting Wii to Sonera DSL
I would guess its your zyxel, we had one from Sonera and while we were using it our internet radio could never buffer any bbc radio stations. After a bit of searching on the internet I found out that they were causing loads of people problems. Since swapping routers I have had no problems.
Re: Connecting Wii to Sonera DSL
Hi raamv and jamesyboy, thanks for your feedback.
I managed to fix the problem. In the beginning, the router was in the bridge mode. Been doing some research online and Zyxel is pretty much at the bottom of the pile. Consulted couple of my more techie friend at the beginning we thought Wii doesn't like WPA encryption on my AP. Reduce to WEP and still nada. Remove the encryption altogether and still couldn't get online. Even after changing the mode to routing still bear no fruit. Then I got fed up, reset the damn thing to default settings and work my way up. Wii managed to get online with router default settings, then put in the WPA encryption settings, MAC filtering, limit the number of DHCP clients and now my Wii is connected together with my other laptops. Yeah, it's the router I tell you. Never had this problem with my Linksys before.
