if you need a babysitter...

Post by juskdi » Sun Jan 11, 2009 1:31 am

Moro, moro...my name is Julie and I am, indeed, looking for babysitting gigs in Helsinki. I came to Finland from the United States about two years ago as an au pair, and now I´m working part-time as a waitress - it was supposed to be a full-time position but there are just not enough shifts available at the moment.

I worked for a family in Eastern Helsinki for a year and we got along wonderfully, in fact I still visit them a few times a week and help out around the house when they need it. I also have three younger siblings back in the USA and I´ve spent most of my life watching after them. I also have a bit of experience in teaching, though I have yet to enter university (I´m 20 years old), as I worked in an English-speaking kindergarten in Espoo for a few months and nowadays give German and English lessons to two Finnish kids once or twice a week. I think I´d like to become a teacher someday, even.

As I do have that waitressing job, I can´t promise right now exactly how often I´m available, but my schedule is very flexible so make some suggestions and I´ll build my schedule around that as much as possible. I do greatly prefer working within Helsinki as I live there (in Puotila, E. Helsinki).

If you´d like to find out more about me, get contact information for my references, maybe arrange a meeting or some such, please either send me a private message on this forum or send me an e-mail at lecachalotwm@hotmail.com anytime.

I am not looking for a babysittier and I don't live in Helsinki, but I thought I would pick up on your comment about possibly wanting to become a teacher someday.

I am studying on a 5 years masters in Oulu, the programme is Master of Education, International Prgramme. It is a teachers education taught in English with a focus on Intercultural/Global education. It might be of interest to you, i think you have lived hee long enough too to recieve the Finnish student and housing support.
