Hi! What is the difference between Komeetta and Postipuu schools (Espoo)? Thank you in advance for any comments.

One is in Olari (Komeetta) and the other is in Leppävaara. But officially they are the SAME school (ie junior section of Espoo International School). They have different headmasters (Komeetta has a headmaster, Postipuu has a headmistress) and separate PTAs and school boards. Both schools have a Finnish stream and Leppävaara has a special section for children with special needs (ie physical/mental disabilities). I think ALL the teachers in the English stream of Komeetta are native English speakers but in Postipuu they are not. Both school feed directly into Espoo International secondary school in Pohjois Tapiola. There is a common entrance test, which can be taken in either school (in fact all English streams in Espoo/Helsinki and Vantaa use the same entrance test now). The schools are the same size and classes sizes are fairly similar (20-24 pupils). I think French as a foreign language is available in both places. If you want your child to learn Finnish (from scratch), then I strongly suggest you look at other alternatives (such as an immigration programme).

What else do you want to know?

(All my kids have been to Komeetta, we live in Olari)
