two guys bought my car 3 monthes before, but till now, the car is still under my name, so i have to pay insurances for this car even if i have no idea where the car is.....

3 months - its within 7 days. you go take it out of the registry immediately after the 7 days is gone if it is not being registered. everything they do is your liability as long as you're the owner in the computer. so you stop being stupid right now and walk with the bill of sales to the katsastus (as in any car inspection place) and get a new title and take it out of the registry instead of looking for some phone numbers...

... you atleast got paid?

You don't have to pay any insurance for that car, what are you talking about? Even if you still had the car in your possession you wouldn't have to have or pay for insurance, that would just mean you shouldn't be driving it.

If the car is still in your name it means the buyers didn't go to register the car in their name. I would go to the nearest katsastus place (that is the car inspection places) where you also register car ownership. Go there with the papers that you signed when giving ownership of the car to the new owner and show those to them. Then you will be directed as what to do. I would do this asap. But as for insurance, you don't have to pay a thing.

BTW, that number is unlisted.

yes you do as the car is in traffic and insured - nobody told the insurance company nor the DMV did they? so, in fact the car has never changed ownership nor status. it is *mosquitos* car in the DMV computer which is legal source. and so remains until he goes and takes it out of the registry in the DMV. and you can do it only from that day onwards and not backtracking.

yes its the 0466446889 that *should* have done the registering and insuring the car. fine so they didn't - so as far as the DMV and insurance company is considered it is *mosquitos* car and his problem as the computer says its his car. of course mosquito can sue the 0466446889 but thats again not the insurance companys nor the DMV's problem as they get the money from the person marked as the owner in the computer which is mosquito. and insurance payments go directly into collection so you go ahead trying not paying.

OH, so what happens is the 0466446889 will have their plates pulled in traffic and then mosquito will eventually get bills for towing the car and their parking tickets.

and then people wonder why we insist on knowing peoples' social security numbers...

I can add I've been shafted like this twice, had to deal with "paper trouble" with my dad's uninspected uninsured but registered car after he died as well as friends buying cars that have some "paper trouble"... lets say it is *not* any situation you want to get into.

My husband is always buying and selling older Japanese cars 'Datsuns' and the like (his hobby). Before even picking the car up after buying it he takes the papers to the Katsastus and get the car signed over into his name. The same with if someone buys from him, he expects the person to go to the Katsastus and get the car signed over before he gives them possession of the car.

I guess you've learnt a lesson. This may be a nice safe country, but there are still wankers out there that can't be trusted.

i have to say thanks for all of you first.you are all so kind....
then. the solution i went to the police this afternoon, i explained tht whole thing, a lady there made some phone calls to ake, she told me it has already done(maybe, she's not sounded so sure about this), but i may still need to pay that 3 months insurance charge... not so bad...at least, i do not need to pay all that 321e on the bill....
maybe it's finished, maybe not. i may still need your help after then. i will let you know how it goes then.....

it's a good lesson...just too expensive...

before, i always thought that Chinese vehicle administration system made the 2rd hand car trade too complex, but now, i think it maybe a right way.....

Ok I agree with you but what I meant was that if he would go to ake and get his name taken off the ownership of the car then he doesn't have any responsibility about this anymore and the police will know the car is unregistered and uninsured. Therefor he would then not have to pay anything. But its still ok and legal to own a car that is not insured, you just can't then have it on public roads, which is impossible to be sure of when someone else is driving the car

I was also wondering does mosquito mean the yearly car tax that comes. Because of course that he would have to pay whether the car was on the road or not as long as its under his name.

Either way, he should have made sure the car ownership was transferred out of his name 7 days after selling it. I guess he has learned a good lesson now.

Good Luck, I had the same issue with the dealer and got knocked for a bill of 220 euro. Sold the car to the dealer, have the receipt, signed papers etc.. then they magically changed the date, and sold it to someone else in my name. So far I've paid the bill, the police are investigating, spent numerous hours on the phone with ake and liikenevakuutuskeskus, and the consumer agency. Just yesterday after 14 months of hell I got a call from the dealer saying he would like this mess to go away outside of court. Never Never Never trust anyone buying a car from you and just remove it from the registry immediately upon selling it, or have them show you that they have it registered in their name before you give them the keys.
