Student card for full-time Finnish studies?

Post by Osbi » Wed Jan 21, 2009 7:31 pm

I'm attending Finnish classes from Adulta, (arranged through the unemployment office), and they are considered to be "full time" in that they are 20h/week. Is there some universal form to fill out for a student card, (for travel discounts and such) or must the school I'm attending need to issue cards themselves in order for me to get one? Anyone know if I have adequate qualification for a student card?

well if you're unemployed so you're not a student... you cannot be in two boxes at one time... and here the zen is that people who are not working are not unemployed as they're studying and people who are studying are not students as they're unemployed. the test of a real student getting student discounts is "does this give a degree" and if you're such a student you won't be on any unemployment benefits as you're a student and not unemployed. it really depends on the type of training, some give you subsidised meals, which is a good thing, but getting the YTV to budge is a tougher case.

Hi,

If you are unemployed and studying finnish you will receive 8€ a day. Which that can be use for your tickets and meals. YOu dont get the students discounts for studying finnish. Your studying has to lead into a degree to get that students discounts.
