Well Gundar: I'm a land surveyor too and have been watching the job openings for land surveyors in Finland for quite some time now. It appears that although there are several jobs available nearly all the time, they all require the applicant to be able to speak not only Finnish but Swedish also. For a very long time, the "legal" language in Finland was Swedish, therefore a lot of the land descriptions were written in Swedish. Nearly all Finnish surveying companies use GPS for their surveying now and you will have to have a good knowledge or ability to use several different brands of GPS systems. Probably Leica and Geodimeter are the two most prominent. There have been several "construction survey" jobs announced this year for the power plant at Eurajoki but there are no places to rent near there. At present, these are the surveying jobs available in Finland. This may not help much if you can't read Finnish.

Well, there's this one in Los Angeles, California and
another one in Houston, Texas. I guess a lot depends on where you would want to be in the U.S. Finland is nicer (if you like cold dark winters, skiing and ice hockey) if you can find a job there. :)

Here's a surveying job in Oulu where they want someone who speaks English but they don't seem to be too worried about Swedish. You might want to give it a shot. :)
