Cheap under shirts
Cheap under shirts
I've been looking around for some simple, cheap under shirts to wear under a white button down shirt and tie. I have found plain white t-shirts but they are too heavy, I want something light. Seems to be a pretty common item Stateside, but it appears most other professionals I know here don't wear anything under their suit shirts. Basically looking for the Finnish equivalent of a 5pack of Hanes undershirts, or something relatively similar.
Any suggestions? I've been to most of the places I am familiar with inside Forum, Kamppi and Stockmanns.
Thanks.

Re: Cheap under shirts
So you don't go to Tarjoustalo or Aholaita for the old granddaddy-wear? They have the Finnish standard mesh ones... I order my tees and wifebeaters from Germany, hanes and fruit-of-the loom.. can give you the ebay stores. They want Überweisung so EU-prepayment in bank.. not complicated.

Zara do a basic t-shirt similar to a gap basic i suppose, you won't get them in packs so they aren't cheap cheap, i got discount through a friend so were about 6€ each i think. Thinnish cotton but might be too 'heavy' for you but decent quality, go have a look. Either opposite Stockmann or in Itäkeskus, don't know about Jumbo or the other malls.

Re: Cheap under shirts
I was browsing though the biltema catalouge whilst sitting on the...... well you know
pack of three T-shirts 9.99 I would have thought they are fairly light weight at that price.

It is what it is, make of it what you will.

Stadium sports store sometimes has good deals on plain T shirts. Maybe Budget sports too. Did you try Prisma?
I'm with you on this one. My 15 yr old asked me for plain T shorts, no logo, no graphics... I scoured town over the past few days (not wanting to be ripped off twice in the same week, cf thread on carparking) and hallucinated several times at the prices that could be charged for a yard of cotton loosely disguised as clothing. JC (not an up-market store by any stretch of the imagination) actually charges 25€ for a bog-standard blue T shirt with dodgy wonky seams. Do these people think we are really really stupid? Warehouse in Ruoholahti had some nice prices but it's all logo stuff and weird colours, emo stripes etc.
In the end, in desperation, I got two from H&M for 15€ (for the 2) and they are OK, one blue, one black with bound seams around the neck. Still a rip off though.

Have you tried seeing if Wal-Mart will deliver? What about Asda?

Re: Cheap under shirts
KappAhl at least some point and time had some decent t-shirts... dunno if the thin ones are any good as they tend to widen and shorten in the wash.

Re: Cheap under shirts
Cheap ones are from the net
Cheap ones in sotres are Biltema, Tarjoustalo, Kappahl ( generally, they have good deals from time to time along with Suits/ties etc)
Another way is to go to Estonia and shop there as now prices are becoming pretty rockbottom..

Re: Cheap under shirts
I hate logo tshirts unless it's a band one cos I am such a dork...I have bought them in places like Prisma but they were very poor quality.
H&M ones are a bit thick and poor fitting I have also found them in Wiklund whatever it's called in sales. But they were Umbro and maybe too thick.
Yeah, the prices are a bit high, I used to buy about 3 in the uk for a tenner and would last a lot longer too. You could try on-line UK stores, Burtons, Top Man...What's that horrible shop? MARKS & SPENCERS...they do very good undershirts that are tight fitting but longer so stick in your trousers. about a tenner for 2. Isn't there a Marks in Helsinki?
