Getting married, need to let people know

Post by johnkara » Mon Feb 16, 2009 2:20 pm

Help! I’m getting married next August and I don’t have my invitations picked out yet. But since it’s summertime and people plan their vacations early, I’m afraid that there will be scheduling conflicts if I don’t get busy. Should I send out “save the date” cards?

If those people live in Finland I think it is too early now. Think more like April/May. BUT if they live somewhere that requires flying, I think they need to know now. Take cards that have RSVP printed in them.

We've already received 3 different "reserve this date" emails from people that are getting married this coming summer. They actually all came last month. One couple is getting married in June, another in July, and the other in August.

I guess it depends on how close family/friends they are, to be honest, it would only be my best friends and closest family I would plan my own Scedule around and if they are that close, then you could just tell them the date in advance.

There are lots of sites on the internet that sell wedding invitations now, but some are better than others. My cousin used a company called . http://www.monogramwedding.com/ and was really happy with her invitations and response cards. You might give them a try.

We got married in 2004 in July in France. We ahd people coming over from England, Scotland, Spain, Finland and Northern France. We told people in February to book the date and start looking for flights. Because our wedding happened to be within the same period the "tour de france" made a stop in the town we had to book hotels well in advance too. We sent the invitation in May if I remember right. But we knew already that the ones we really wanted to attend were coming or not. Then you have the aunties and cousins you know you have to invite but that won't be coming anyway.
