Hi everyone,
I'm considering quitting my job and I was wondering what would be the notice period. It only says in the agreement something like "notice period according to Finnish law".
It's a part time job, and I started in October 2008 so it's my fifth month now.
Would it be two weeks or a month or...? And do I need to give my resignation in writing or is it enough to say it to the employer?
Btw, does anyone know what is the regular notice period when renting a flat? Is it a month or longer or shorter? And the same - should I give it in writing?
Thanks!
L.

Re: Notice periods
Two weeks from work. A month in a flat and that is calendar month, so you pay to the end of the next month. Everything written is always better, but it softens if you also call and talk.

Re: Notice periods
Thanks a lot
I was asking about the writing/talking things because it's necessary to do it in writing where I come from.
But Finland surprised me so many times already that I prefer to ask in advance. Of course I will do the talking first, I just needed to know the 'legal' side as well.
Thanks again!

Re: Notice periods
Its always advisable to have everything in writing. Though here a contract can be verbal - only when if a dispute comes then its really crap situation.

Okay.
But here's another question: I totally forgot that my apartment is a "työsuhdeasunto", the work-related flat. Will I have a regular notice period for rented flats or my flat rent is terminated the same time as my employment?
Such a mess, I know, but thanks for any info!
