4th-jas_rho-tells me to keep using my Finnish as there are tons of sob stories already here.
5th-jas-rho tells me "dont cry man..." and that I have to just work hard. His following words show me that he knows NOTHING about learning disabilities. Then he tells me "sorry to have offended you but if you get offended that easily then you got a tough time ahead."

Not to say that there was not some great advice by some in this post. There definately was. Thank you. It is just the people trying to be funny, not staying on topic, and just plain being obnoxious that bothers me. We have all seen it on this Forum. I am the last person to usually be sensitive here, but this Forum eventually gets to you. People can be real tough guys on this forum. I doubt they would be that way with me face to face or nose to nose with me. I don't know if the Finnish culture has made many hard or what. But be sure, I will definately not post again trying to help others out, as I did starting this topic. Many have left this Forum because of a few idiots when they need help also and just get sly remarks. It is just wrong. I know that I will again get some nasty remarks here and those that agree with me are scared to post, as they will be attacked to. Just PM me if you want to talk sometime. I started this topic to help people. My wife will find me answers by googling them from now on if she doesnt know them. If you want to keep being off topic or nasty, they will be forwarded to Phil so that you can be banned. (read the forum rules).
Yes I deleted my post, I do not as a rule correct people's english, but did so tongue in cheek, hence the 'I'll get my coat', obviously I did not know you have a 'learning disability' I'm not a mind reader. If you had of explained this in the first place then people would have been more helpful, has they have helped you many times in the past, going through your posts I lost count of the times you have thanked Hank for his advice, yet according to you 'he made his usual sly comments', you have actually thanked both Hank and I in the same post. :o

I don't feel I need to apologize for any of my remarks and stand behind them 100% and would say them to your face. I wasn't trying to knock you down or make you feel bad. So many people here come to complain and while this is a good place to vent they should be ready for the remarks that others can freely put here. I was just trying to say stick with it, keep trying, and don't give up, and you'll eventually be rewarded for it. If you would rather cry and complain more then like I said earlier, you've got a hard time to look forward to here with that kind of attitude, it ain't gonna be a walk in the park no matter how much you cry.

Hychamaz: I believe you were way too ready to take things wrong. You see, Ravvy was absolutely correct in his advice! Inari is a tourist area and as such NEEDS people who can speak english. It really wasn't a joke and you dissed him. Hank is nobodys flower hatted auntie but even in his wry comments he usually includes a few little insights to the way Finns do things that help YOU in your efforts. Every employer stresses communication skills so even if you type one-handed you should at least try a little harder to get it right. That's what Little Frank was trying to help you to understand. You should appreciate the fact that so many people are urging you to not give up on learning Finnish. Every tiny bit that you can learn will only help. Start looking for the good in the advice you recieve and you will find out that there is really a LOT of good. I think you have found a very good place to get started with a working life in Finland. Don't be satisfied! Improve yourself and move on up! Good luck.

Actually there was recently an article in Hesari about non-Finnish speaking restaurant workers (including waiters) being fairly common in Helsinki. These were non-ethnic restaurants mostly serving Finnish speaking clients. I have not run across any but they did interview several such workers and restaurant keepers. A very small group no doubt and the first to go in the current downturn, but still, they do exist which was a bit of a surprise to me.

see now you have been here and you know the drill...

in USA the poor losers get pampered and told they're good and special and get demand respect
in Finland the poor losers get a drill sergeant kicking their arse saying they're no-good lowlifes nad need do deserve respect.

that is why USA has USMC and Finland has the whole Nation believing they're the best

Hey guys, thanks for all of the remarks both good and bad. Everyone has an opinion. I respect them all just think that sometimes here people are a little harsh. I never meant to come off sensitive or like so many said "crying" about things... I have a great degree from the states and worked my ass off for 10 years before I came here. I love it here though. My wife needed to be here rather than in NY for alot of reasons. So I suck it up. Its fine with me. I know it will work out. I will just give the example of Hank's (or whatever he calls himself now) comment that his tax money paid for my wonderful trip to the Canary Islands and that I will never find a job here because of my attitude. He doesnt know me, doesnt know that I spend every cent I get from Kela on my son and soon to be 2nd. That money for my trip came from hard work in Pharmaceutical Sales in the States. Ok, so u guys will say thats just Hank, but my point is that many people dont realize that. And it is just a shame from seeing this board for a while, that people leave here because of harshness. Maybe they should just suck it up, but thats not how everyone is. Keep this forum open to everyone, not just the thick skinned kind....
And thank you all for the great advice. I appreciate it.

So why would you be entitled to KELA money if you have income from "pharmaceutical sales" in the USA? Did you declare it BTW, and did you inform KELA of your little holiday? Thats called "abusing the system" you know. I don't need to know you - I know your kind. My tax money still paid for your trip to the Canary islands.

Hank's last comment was pretty harsh, but I see where he's coming from. You don't have a job here = you don't pay into Kela. Yet you are producing kids which are paid for by the State = taking out of Kela.

Whilst receiving Kela money, you gleefully tell that you are going for 2 weeks in the sun, but it's OK it was paid for by money earned in the US?! WTF?! Many employed, tax-paying locals struggle to make ends meet would crawl stark-bollock naked over broken glass to enjoy a winter break. And it is they (and Hank, and I... etc. etc.) who are giving you money!

I'm not Finnish, but between the ages of 18 and 28 whilst studying full time and working holiday periods, I didn't have a single foreign holiday. There's just something that rubs me up the wrong way about people who don't have a job, who take benefits and then blow money on a holiday (or cigarettes or booze).

My advice would be to stop posting in this thread, you don't have a strong hand, and you're playing it badly.

Not often I can get to say I agree with both Hank and Fishy in the same thread.

Many years ago there was a programme on the the television, cannot remember what it was called, but they worked out which group of people got the most public subsidies i.e. state hand outs, the result was the middle classes.

Did anyone whisper "class war" ? Nope, didn't think so. So let's get back to the point, which is summarised nicely here:
