Whats the going rate for a nanny?

Post by magjohn » Mon Mar 16, 2009 12:30 am

Hi

Family will be moving to Finland (Espoo area) in May and we want to get a part time nanny pretty much as soon as we can - say 10 to 15 hours per week. Quals not necessary - experience is better - and duties will be looking after the kids rather than any other household cleaning etc.

We're moving from Australia and trying to work out the cost of living for pretty much everything, so any pointers on a per hour rate would be great. Conversational english skills preferred..

Please not that this is not a job posting (yet) we are just looking for some advice.

Cheers

Don't know about a 'nanny' as such, but the going rate for babysitters seems to be around 8 to 10 Euros an hour

I heard something once (possibly on here) about if you pay someone to clean your house then you can reclaim 30-40% of what you pay in some sort of tax-rebate, is it not possible to do the same thing with a nanny?

It is if the nanny has her own company. That tax rebate used to be only for house repair and renovation, but nowadays it is also for "care work". A friend of mine gets it because she has hired a part-time caretaker for her old parents. BUT that lady works in a company that employs many care-takers.

Its 60% from work from vat liable company, 30% + expenses if you employ private person (instead of company). 3000e/person. And It only reduces your income from which taxes are calculated, you won't get 3k back from taxman. Contact http://vero.fi

I can help you with my babysitter. I’m a Romanian mother living in Finland. I have a teenage babysitter that I pay with 5$ per hour. She takes care of two children of my, 3 and 5 years :D :) , and she’s satisfied and do the job very well. We have to move out soon, so if you are interested, contact me. Good luck!

you can claim 60% of the Netto summa PER year AFTER the summa exceeds €100.
