Cardboard boxes?
Hi.
I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where to get cardboard boxes. Do the supermarkets/Alko have ones they'll give you if you ask? I'm under the impression that everyone immediately crushes their cardboard by hand or in those huge trash compactors these days...
I really don't want to spend money on them, as I'm just going to be filling them with junk and storing them in the attic, BUT, if I can't find old ones that people don't want, where can I buy new ones?
Spanx.

Clas Ohlsson usually have boxes for moving. They do cost a bit but I get the feeling they are probably stronger than e.g. bananaboxes. Depends on if you could sell them again, then it might not be a bad deal. You could also try places like K Rauta I think or Bauhaus.

Re: Cardboard boxes?
I have used small cardboard boxes that (used to) hold packs of A4 paper. They have big strong lids and are about the right size (ie not too heavy when filled with books and fit through the loft opening). I guess you could get them from any office where people do a lot of photocopying and or printing.

I do the same as Penelope for papers and stuff. Supermarkets do have boxes that you can use, but mostly you need to ask them in advance to save them for you and pick up them really early in the morning or else they just crush them. When doing our move we went to the local Prisma and CM and asked them for the chiquita banana boxes and also the boxes they use for packing apples- they're sturdy and stack up nicely.
saving chimpanzees is a big hairy deal
Re: Cardboard boxes?
Yeah, banana boxes are very strong but generally do not have lids (dunno if you need one, but for storage it is better so they don't end up full of dust).
Ikea also have quite a few boxes of various descriptions, they have moving boxes too (IIRC) which are pretty strong.

I just came home form work, thought I'd ask my local Sale if they could save the banana boxes tomorrow morning, I'll come to pick them up. But guess what, they had some boxes immediately even if it was close to 9pm! So just go and ask.
Banana boxes is the only choice for me - strong, so strong you can even stand on them (not right in the middle). This comes in handy if you need to fix a light bulb or so
(I do not take any responsability for injuries or worse that occur while following my advice...)

Apart from free ones,
Biltema has the cheapest and sturdiest cardboard box storage and sizes.
if you want another solution to store things in "-" degrees ( -1 to -20) then you need "hammasplast" as those are the only ones able to give bigger dimensions but are also pretty expensive compared to cardboard boxes..
