Passport Renewal

Can anybody please let me know how early can i apply for my passport renewal?
My Passport type is A and its validity is upto October end 2009. How many days it take for renewal and how early i can apply for renewal.

You wanna renew your passport? Contact your embassy.

You wanna renew your residence permit? Go to the police station in the city where you live.

If it's your residence permit that you mean, then about a month before it expires you should go to renew it. At least that's always how I have done it.
