cycling in/around Helsinki

Hi,

I'm moving to Helsinki in 2 weeks with my boyfriend from the UK. We both have road bikes and were hoping to cycle quite a bit when we are living in Helsinki. Can anyone recommend good routes (especially how to get out of Helsinki quickly and safely) for road bikes. Typically we'd cycle 60 -100km on a ride. Also are there any cycling clubs in Helsinki? thanks!

There always route 51 to Hanko which is pretty popular with cyclists..

Just this week friend of mine told that he made 180 degree turn on spot without touching ground with his feet. Also had second thoughts about summer tires. But hey, thats what helmet is for?

Go to the Tourist Office and ask for a 'Ulkoilukartta' (outdoor map) it has all the cycling routes for Helsinki/Vantaa and Espoo. It's free.
