Shopping in Helsinki
Shopping in Helsinki
Okay.Me and my hubby are going to Helsinki to shopping ( we live in Turku). But there is a catch. We are both rocker-souls and we wear alternative clothing that can not be found in regular shops.Don't get me wrong,we are not gothic or cyber and that kind of clothing is a no-no for us.We just want a nice pair of leather (or faux leather) pants, some sexy dress and top for me and some nice cowboy boots for him.So we need info where to go.Web address would be great too.
Thanks in advance.

Just my little joke...Pursuivant wrote:oh piss orfbut there's plenty of Him fans like hank on the board.

But yeah, personally I buy most of my stuff via the Wide Wide World of Web cos even a simple thing like a band tshirt is half the price (not to mention the choice)...but then again boots, might be better to try them on in Helstinky and then order the same companies boots from Germany or maybe the US as they are probably imported anyway...

Re: Shopping in Helsinki
In boots you can actually get a good deal sometimes in Helsinki - the good stuff is at ripoff prices on the net. Funny thing though, you can get "westernwear" from the UK and Germany almost easier than from the US... but boots aren't that much cheaper necessarily... leather trousers you can get cheap off the net, and in sizes...
Actually if some fatso wants motorcycle pants I have a pair of size 46" waist. for once they were too big for me and I got a full suit so don't need 'em.
BTW shoppingwise - from Turku I thought you'd go to Stockholm, now with the crown in the dumps I bet you could score some cool stuff there.

True...but once you pay your flights / boat, is there any difference?
Wouldn't mind a pair of biker boots myself.

The ferry companies practically pay you to take the ferry over, they hope you will spend lots of money buying tax free stuff on the ferry.

Friggin hate those damn boats....so much so that I would rather pay the extra and fly. More worth while, less travelling time and you don't get dragged into buy the crappy and over priced food on the boat... works out better value for money.
Each to their own...but I avoid the boats.

Re: Shopping in Helsinki
Thank you so much for all your help.
I was planning to go to Leather Heaven, but last time i went there they did not have leather pants for me (at least not "fashion" leather pants that i can wear with heels,i don't need biker). Was thinking to order from web but the problem is that i've got long legs (and i am slim),and normally if the pants fit on waist they are too short for me,and if i got length then they are huuuge.
Hotrod page looks cool, and garageland aswell.Just browsing.Lots of nice pinup stuff.
Someone sent me link to some shop in Helsinki http://www.backstreet.fi ,not bad at all.
As for the prices, that's another story. What's wrong with Finland?haha

Re: Shopping in Helsinki
The cool is not the issue here. The prices from the hell are!
Why, in the world, are they SO expensive? Like seriously. Do you know any affordable clothing-sites? I'd be interested. I can, of course, buy something from the above mentioned sites also, but it'd mean to eat puuroa for 3 months from now on.

Hi,Bubba Elvis XIV wrote:Well what sort of clothes do you want?
I ain't following "a" trend. I mainly am comfy in jeans, t-shirts, snickers. Many of the clothes above were indeed cool. And I'd buy them if i would afford it.. as well as if it wouldn't place me in some style. I do appreciate goth/metal/hippie-people's determination on sticking to a fashion line, but in their attempt to try to be different, they just put on another uniform..

So, yeah, anything joyful, colorful, comfy, youthful it's in my interest. And not too girlish.
I like simple, but avoid plain.
I have a preference for olive-green

Re: Shopping in Helsinki
Persuivant, I've read your post about ebay.de, I actually created an account on ebay after that, but the thing is that somehow i cannot get around it. I don't know what my problem is. Maybe I don't know to browse well or to pick the right seller. Or maybe i simply don't know to use the system. I did find cheap stuff I would have liked to buy, but the shipping was more expensive than the item.( and i'm not talking about .de, but the site generally) How do i avoid that? (I do not yet have a bank account)
