Internship in HIIT finland (needed information)

Hello,

I am an Indian and I am coming to Helsinki this summer from May 10 to July 27 (2009) for around 75 days. I am coming to do an internship there as a summer term job in Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT (which is a part of TKK) http://www.hiit.fi/. I will be receiving salary for my work but I have to arrange all the things like accommodation, food, traveling etc. So I needed your help regarding these points:

1. My institute is located in Espoo, so which is best and cheap place to stay ? (hostel, apartment, shared rooms, etc.). How much it will cost?
2. How much is the daily cost of living there like food, transportation, and other daily needs?
3. I am bit confused with the taxation rules, so do anybody know how much tax does a student have to pay if he is receiving a salary?
(My professor will be sending me a work permit to work there)
4. How is the climate there at that time? What is the temperature? Do i need to bring any winter jackets etc.?
5. How is the transportation system there? Ho do I go to Espoo from the airport?
6. Can I find any family who lets student to stay with them for short duration?
7. How much money should I be carrying initially while moving to finland, as I will be paid at the end of the month?


If anybody have any contacts for finding any good accommodation (shared/single) then please help me.

You can manage cheaply as your stay is 75 day try to bring some stuffs while ur reaching here...If u bring stuffs and ur cooking by yourself then will cost 300-400 for basic food

Tax is 7.5 % for below 12k per year ...confirm with tax department...may be no tax for u...

It is alway better to have jacket ...you may need it in night times here..It wont be cold at these times...

you can use public transport it will cost 270 euros for 75 days...

U need atleast 1000 Euros...If you get accomadation before reaching here. If you wont get accomadation living in hotel may cost you 60-90 euros per day......so first get some accomadation before reaching here.

I think this is wrong . for an adult regional pass for 75days costs less than 200es . Since the OP doing internship , he can apply for a student card which is like less than 100es.

He have mentioned as Workpermit...not student permit.
