What? Do you mean does anyone know if the inspectors are on the loose in the area? I don't think anyone knows about the schedules of these folks.
Yes. On their web page the say when they have inspections but nothing about Lahti http://www.tv-maksu.fi/en/index.html
I am pretty sure it was the tv inspector because he didn't want first to answer my question when I asked him "how is there?" I had to ask him 3 times but not even then, he didn't say anything about the tv inspection. He was just trying to "pull" my leg...Finally he asked me "are you afraid of me?" and I replayed "no, but anyway I won't open the door unless you tell me who are you". Then he gave up
They don't have any authority to come with the police, that just s***

BTW rule says , you obliged to pay the fee , if you watch TV using DVB(T/C/H) or IP TV

I think , If you use a p2p network to watch live TV , you may not need to pay the fees

Its all fine and dandy until they send you to the collection agency..then you pay for all those years that they thought that you owned a TV ( proof is on you then ) and then the consolidated interest and fines!!

Its maximum of one year that you must pay, if you get busted. Plus 100e inspection fee and that one year is paid in double for penalty. https://www.tv-maksu.fi/en/index/tietoa ... ukset.html

If he does, they can't prove when he got it. If they have a base line ie. the date at which he stopped paying his bills or the date at which they first saw the TV in the house (tuned to a channel?) that might allow some action on their part.
Collection agency bases their fact to a bill that is not paid by you. If you want to challenge that bill, then it will be your job to prove when you got your TV (or that you don't even have one).

There has been talking in forums about people who didn't have any money even when bailiff has been looking for them and so they have received a note from Viestintävirasto saying that they will not give this person tv-license, so he cannot get one even if he wanted... :P

Fortunately we pay it then for him :( . In this so developed country they still haven't found out that it will cost much less and will be much more efficient if they put it in the (income) taxes. Maybe eduskunta can decide about it in the time between their holidays
