Where to buy a towbar?

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can buy a towbar (for a Golf)? I'm intending to fit it myself. I did a quick search for 'vetokoukko' (I think that's the right name) but only seem to find car dealers. I'm wondering if there are independent manufacturers (such as Witter in the UK).

you can get one also from Hessumobiili and the likes... usually its a full set, but check it comes with the lighting plug and everything...

The big brand made in Finland is Kovil. This is the one on most vehicles in FIN. You have to go to a distributor to buy a Kovil. You can also find Brink brand. You can find some listings in your yellow pages under peravaunu (sp?) They also have some standard towbar kits (towbars and electric) from Biltema. Check out their online catalog which lists some of their in stock cars...You might also look at getting it from the UK as the £ is so low right now.

Many thanks. I guess I should buy a Kovil one if I can find a dealer (strange they don't list the dealers on their website, anyway I've emailed them). I didn't realise Biltema sold them, I swear I've read their catalogue from cover to cover but I didn't spot it.

Can you buy a tow bar and fit it yourself? whether fitted by yourself or not do you have to have it examined by AKE and will they pass any reputable make on your car? thanks.

AFAIK and what I have read in other forums: you can fit it yourself, and it will (or will not...) be inspected in yearly inspection.
