No personal experience:

(but if it is the only one, then by definition it must be the best?)

Hi,

A new Moroccan restaurant called La Medina just oppened in Helsinki center (3 weeks ago). I was there last week and the place was amazing, food was well presented and delicious.

The wine was so cheap, I paid for a glass of wine in the lunch time only 3 euros.

Here you are, have a look at this website

Hi,

The prices are very cheap comparing with other restaurant of similar type.
There, you get a decent 3 main course, in lunch time, for only 21 euros including a coffe :D

I noticed (being unemployed for a long time) working is expensive, that sum goes in a day...

A glass of wine can cost 3 Euros ? How much does a bottle to buy then cost ?
Suppose beer would be cheaper.

See also Alko for wine prices from our alcohol monopoly and compare them (and also food prices) to generic restaurant chain prices.

Yeah, I think its not working that's expensive, eating out in Helsinki is very expensive. Even sub-par meals. One time I went to this Japanese restaurant and the food was so salty i drank more than 3 glasses of water. Plus the soy sauce tasted like chinese soy sauce rather than Japanese soysauce - cost saving measure? :S. I think they charge extreme amounts here for any ethnic cuisine, but at the same time not being very good value. I'm ok with eating at Hesburger instead, cos at least my expectations will be met, at a reasonable price/value :P.

Ps. I also don't understand this 'generic restaurant' idea. I thought food chain restaurants were supposed to be good, in that their food was so good they had to expand the business. But here, its just expensive and mediocre to the point of bad. Maybe just cos i tried Chicos. On the menu it said something nice like succulent chicken fillet with potato frittata, or something like that, but what i got was dry chicken breast, with 2 triangle hashbrowns that taste almost like the mcdonalds hash brown, if it had any taste at all. I didn't know what to think. It was just so mediocre it blew away even the thought of bad food ive had before - at least the bad food had some kind of taste. This was so lifeless - it tasted like the most lifeless meal ive had in my entire life, and i wondered if the chef was depressed or something, or just didn't care. But boy, one thing's for sure, generic = expensive for some reason :P, and im not sure why.

Ok sorry that this had nothing to do with Moroccan food :D but i wonder if other people have also had bad experiences eating in Helsinki.
