You have to leave home some day, might just as well do it before you are 40. This year is better than 10 years from now.

(One of the good things in conscript army: at least boys have to leave home before they are middle-aged)

True, I do have to leave sometime. Things just get a bit more complicated for me. Medically mostly. I'm followed by a specific 'team' of doctors and now I would have to find a Finnish form of that team...which I hope is doable 0_o

Right, I'm very shy.
Than you fit in perfectly here. :D

Go for it.
If you get in, you can find some work on the side (singing/playing in a bar, teaching music, assist at festivals in summer) Music is a big part of life in Finland, especial in the countryside. So there are certainly opportunities during your study.

Ah yes, shyness got me far on my Finnish vacation. It was like a shock to my penpal (who I lost touch with) that I wasn't 'loud' like he expected me (a tourist) to be.
Music is why I love the country. It's everywhere and everyone likes it (unlike here where people actually "don't listen to music") Especially in the summertime. I was in Helsinki for "The Night Of The Arts" and that was very cool how everyone just packed the streets. And the impromptu concerts in the parks are just so wonderful. I cried during one of them. I'm a sap...I know. But I also cried (a lot) when I had to leave and come back to Canada.

darn, I only walked past like *once* and I was half sober...

I'd be more scared of the thought of living half across the globe and one morning walking out and seeing them...

"The term is related to "Goth Helsinki Syndrome" where usually a young teenage female heavy metal fan wishing to learn the Finnish language and to move to Helsinki to catch a glimpse of some Finnish heavy metal music scene dignitaries."

No actually...if this school was somewhere else, I'd go somewhere else. It's not though. And I can't afford to go to school here.
