If I use electricity, I pay for it, if I drink water, if I eat food, same thing, I pay for what I consume. But if I don't use them, I am not going to be charged. YLE doesn't come close to the importance of any of these and yet they want everyone to pay regardless of their usage? It's an ignominy. If they have trouble to make ends meet, well, they adapt, they reduce their spendings, just like everyone else.
All broadcasters? But the money is only for YLE. Again, what makes them so special? If they are such a symbol of Finnish culture, then they should receive public tax money directly from the state's hands, as it is proportional to people's wealth and thus fair. Finland's economic situation is far from being dramatic, the government was still capable to offer tax cuts in spite of the coming crisis, they could very well subsidize YLE if it is so badly needed.

I've just read about this "Media Fee" on HS English website and I'm infuriated. This stupid idea better not be approved by the parliament. There's no way I pay 175€ a year for something I never use. I do not have a TV, I do not watch YLE or any Finnish channel, and I should still pay? Who do they think they are? What do they think they produce, life extension recipes? It's just some stupid TV programs for god's sake, they're not providing anything that people would be absolutely depending on. At the moment I'm struggling to make ends meet, I have to deal with Kela's and that social service's narrow-mindedness, and still those morons think it would be ok that everyone in this country, regardless of their situation, condition, and TV usage, would pay an exorbitant 175€ annual fee for something as trivial as television programs? Definitely the idea of some self-centered executive who thinks everyone owns a car, a house and a goddamn TV.
